Screening for Plagiarism Policy

Via Salutis: Journal of Wesleyan-Arminian Studies is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, and the quality of all published articles. Every submitted manuscript undergoes a plagiarism screening process before proceeding to the peer review stage.

Plagiarism Detection Software

To ensure the originality of submitted manuscripts, the journal uses plagiarism detection software, including:

• Turnitin (primary screening tool).
• iThenticate (international standard).
• Plagiarism Checker X (internal supporting tool).

The plagiarism screening evaluates the overall similarity index of the manuscript and verifies that all sources have been appropriately cited.

Similarity Index Threshold

The journal applies the following similarity index policy:

• ≤ 24%: The manuscript is eligible to proceed to the peer review process.
• 25%–30%: The manuscript is returned to the author for revision and citation improvement before further consideration.
• > 30%: The manuscript is rejected because it exceeds the journal's acceptable similarity threshold.

The similarity index is not the sole criterion for editorial decisions. Editors also assess the nature of the detected similarities, including properly cited quotations, references, commonly used expressions, and any indication of substantive plagiarism.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original, have not been published or submitted elsewhere, and properly acknowledge all sources used in their work.
